What the grammar checker fixes

  • Grammar: subject–verb agreement (“it were” → “it was”), verb tenses, pronoun case (“me and my friend” → “my friend and I”), articles and prepositions.
  • Spelling: typos and commonly confused words such as their/there/they’re, its/it’s, then/than, affect/effect.
  • Punctuation: missing commas after introductory phrases, run-on sentences, apostrophes and capitalization. For punctuation only, use the punctuation checker.
  • Word choice: clearly wrong words, but not your style. The checker is told to change as little as possible.
