Free AI paraphrasing tool
Paste a sentence or a whole essay, pick a mode, and get a rewrite in seconds. No signup, nothing stored, and every change is marked so you can see exactly what moved.
Your result appears here. Press Paraphrase. Nothing you paste is stored on our servers.
How to use the paraphraser
- Paste your text into the left box (up to about 1,000 words at a time).
- Pick a mode. Standard is a safe start; Formal suits essays; Simple suits study notes; Shorten trims word count.
- List words to keep if needed: key terms, names or phrases your teacher expects to see.
- Read the tracked changes. Struck-through red is what was removed, highlighter yellow is what was added. Untick “Show changes” for clean text.
- Check the meaning, then copy. If a sentence drifted, edit it yourself; you know the source best.
What makes a good paraphrase
A paraphrase restates an idea in your own words and structure, roughly the same length as the original, and still credits the source. Swapping a few synonyms is not enough: the Purdue OWL recommends reading the passage, setting it aside, writing from memory and then checking back against the source. Our step-by-step guide walks through that with an interactive example.
Use the AI result as a draft. It is fast at breaking the grip of the original wording, but you should still confirm facts, keep technical terms precise, and add the citation.
Fast and private by design
There is no account, so there is nothing to log into and no profile to build. Your text goes to the AI model only for the length of the request and is not kept on our servers. The counting tools (word counter, character counter, readability checker) never send your text anywhere: they run entirely in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Is QuickParaphrase really free with no signup?
Yes. Every tool on the site works without an account, email address or trial. There is a fair-use limit of about 25 AI requests per 10 minutes per connection to keep the service fast for everyone.
Do you store the text I paste?
No. Your text is sent to the AI model only to produce the result and is not saved on our servers or used to build a profile. Your latest input and your last five results are kept in your own browser (localStorage) so a refresh does not lose your work; you can clear them at any time on the privacy page.
Is using a paraphrasing tool plagiarism?
Rewording someone else’s ideas without credit is still plagiarism, even if every word is new. Paraphrase to understand and restate a source in your own voice, then cite it. Check your school’s policy too: many allow tools for drafting or feedback but not for submitted work.
What do the six modes do?
Standard rewrites with new wording at a similar length. Fluent smooths awkward phrasing. Formal lifts the register for essays and reports. Simple uses shorter sentences and everyday words. Creative varies the wording more boldly. Shorten cuts the text to roughly 60% while keeping every point.
What does the “% reworded” meter mean?
It is the share of words in the result that do not appear in the same order in your original. Around 40–70% is typical for a genuine paraphrase. If it is low, try Creative mode or click “Use as input” and paraphrase again.
How long can my text be?
Up to 6,000 characters (roughly 900–1,000 words) per request. For longer documents, paraphrase one section at a time; the result is usually better that way too.
Which languages work?
The paraphraser answers in the language you write in, and works well in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian and many other widely used languages.
